Art for a Sneak Peek at Fall Fairs + Gallery Shows
My favorite highlights from previews of upcoming fairs and exhibitions
Good morning! We are two weeks out from the fall art season kick off. You can expect art fairs like the Armory, Art on Paper, Independent 20th Century, and one of my favorites, Printed Matter’s Art Book Fair at MoMA PS1. Galleries will be opening new fall exhibitions throughout the month, so I’ll be in Tribeca and the Lower East Side until further notice.
**Reminder to download the Showrunner app to find artists and exhibitions! Arthur Analytics has also been intriguing for artist discovery if you’re not based in New York City**
While there is undeniably a change of pace in this contracting market and an endless stream of articles about gallery closures, this newsletter is here to share that collectors are still buying. I choose to focus on the positives and the impacts that contribute to the field rather than those that detract. As a reminder that there is still robust engagement across the field, here is a list of ten conversations and experiences I had in the quietest month of August alone:
Received a preview for an Armory booth where every work has already been sold, except for one that is included below
Celebrated several clients’ acquisitions this month, including one from a museum exhibition currently on view(!)
Rotated in fresh art at People’s; stay tuned for our fall program of events there
