Art for Celebrating Centennials at People's
A century after Edith Halpert's Downtown Gallery opened, the contemporary art legacy continues
HAPPY NEW YEAR! I hope everyone’s 2026 is off to an invigorating start with a thirst to discover and collect contemporary art. I am over the moon excited to share today my curated selections of emerging artists for the gallery at People’s New York. There is a full year of programming, surprises, and launches, and paid subscribers will see invitations to art events.
One hundred years ago, Edith Halpert opened her gallery at 113 West 13th Street and changed the course of American art. That centennial history resonates especially this month as People’s celebrates its first year in the same townhouse where Halpert once championed a new generation of artists.
Today’s newsletter featuring art currently on view and available for purchase at People’s honor that living legacy and the community that continues to grow around it. Please reply to this email with interest or email me at art@peoplesny.com for acquisition details!
A reminder that most of my newsletters will now be for paid subscribers, with one free issue each month. Thank you so much to everyone who continues to read, share, support, and obsess over contemporary art as much as I do.
If you enjoy this newsletter and want weekly artist selections, consider becoming a paid subscriber! And if you know someone building a thoughtful collection, feel free to forward this issue.
