Art for Conversations That Last All Night
Artworks that invite curiosity, discourse, and lingering discussion
Good morning! I am keeping today’s introduction short because of how many artworks (12!!!) I need to fit into this newsletter. Several of these artists are selling quickly, and I find their practices so compelling that I will likely include more examples by these same artists in next week’s free issue of the month.
When I make selections for this newsletter, I think about artworks that serve as a catalyst for curiosity. Art is a conversation starter, served piping hot on a silver platter. This isn’t an art book, but one of my favorite reads from the past couple of years was Talking At Night by Claire Daverly. Books like this, and artworks like the ones below, can start conversations and keep them going well into the night. All you have to do is ask!
Last night, I moderated a panel that asked about the evolving landscape of contemporary art collecting and the renewed role of salons and social gatherings in shaping how art is discovered today. At a time when images circulate faster online than comprehension, I find the role of discernment to matter more than ever and I want to understand which platforms and voices are deciding our contemporary cultural lexicon.
Enjoy today’s selections, and thank you to all of my subscribers for following along. I can’t wait to continue these conversations in future newsletters.
