Good morning and happy August! I am especially excited to share this edition of the newsletter, which features artists I have been following closely and a selection of works all priced at $5,000 or less.
I recently read The Business of Fashion’s piece “Why Hyping Art as an Investment Needs to Stop.” Clients often ask about the potential financial return on artworks, and my answer is always the same: buy what you love. This is not a profound assertion, as most advisors and collectors will offer the same advice, but it remains the most enduring truth in collecting.
You should collect for resonance, not returns. I see the proof every time a client acquires a work they truly connect with, when their zeal is palpable and their excitement is infectious. It is a feeling that cannot be measured, only experienced.
Thank you, as always, to my subscribers for reading and collecting. It has been a joy placing works from recent newsletters into your collections, and I am absolutely thrilled by the growing community that continues to engage with each edition.
If a piece speaks to you, I encourage you to reach out. I am always happy to share more details, additional images, or context. I look forward to hearing what resonates with you this time! Stay cool in the summer heat, and safe travels to those lucky enough to be on vacation.
